6 Best Practices to Grow Your Company Instagram Page!

Whether you’ve just started your business, or you’ve been running for years the growing importance of social media and digital marketing platforms is undeniable. One of the best and easiest ways to start growing your online presence is through Instagram! In this article I am giving you 6 of the most basic, yet most powerful best practices to grow your account.

  1. Engagement Engagement Engagement!

You want your posts to be engaging for your followers. Engagement on Instagram is EVERYTHING. You are still selling your brand, but subtly. It is more about engaging with followers and making them fall in love with your business and your story.

  1. Make Sure to Be Clear and Interactive.

Always use clear and concise messages with interactive and engaging captions. Use strategies like “comment your favourite thing about ___ below!” or “tag someone you know who needs this product” etc. This continues to grow engagement. The more people that interact with your content, the more your posts will be boosted on followers’ feeds and in the explore page for people with similar interests.

  1. Subtle Selling

Have Call to Actions but try to keep them more on the subtle side! Avoid them completely on educationally, organic, and inspiration posts as it may make them appear disingenuous. You don’t always want to be hardcore selling in every post, you want to be relatable and give the impression that you are really building a genuine relationship with your followers.

Interacting with your followers is extremely important when trying to grow your instagram page. Be sure to respond, like and engage with comments on your posts. Liking comments works well for closed ended comments. Try your best to respond to as many open ended comments and positive reviews as possible! If people are commenting direct questions about your product or service, be sure to prioritize responding to these, it shows you are active and that you care!

Hashtags are a must. For a long time users debated the efficacy of using hashtags in your post. I’m here to tell you that when you are trying to grow your instagram followers and get your profile in front of as many new faces as possible… hashtags matter! Use a brief testing period to find a handful of your most effective hashtags then use these as your preset of popular hashtags for every post and continue to add a couple of new ones that are relevant to each specific post. 

(Tip: Instagram only allows 30 hashtags total from your account on a post, whether they are in the caption or commented after posting, 30 is the maximum!)

  1. Consistency is Key

Be consistent with your posting! Find a schedule that works for you and stick with it. Whether that is a strict Monday, Wednesday Sunday, or a dedicated 4 posts a week on varying days, find what works best for you and commit to it. I suggest testing different dates and times for the first few weeks of posting to find where your followers are likely to give you the highest engagement!

BONUS: Utilize your stories and highlights to continue nurturing your follower engagement between feed posting! You can go live when you have some time and answer questions and chat with your followers. Post polls on your stories to peak interest and gain… you guessed it, engagement!
